UTAR is pleased to introduce the UTAR SilverCard to its students of all programmes (undergraduate, post-graduate, and foundation studies) and staff of Perak Campus. The UTAR SilverCard will serve as a UTAR ID card and e-wallet card which can be used to pay for services and merchandise in the campus.

This is an initiative by the University to encourage a cashless campus community which is in line with the government’s aspiration to transform Malaysia into a cashless society. The UTAR SilverCard shall replace the existing UTAR ID card for those who have signed up for the e-wallet service by SGP.

UTAR and SGP’s shared vision for this partnership is to work together in delivering the essential elements of e-payment solutions as follow:

 -          Enriching the students’ university lifestyle with convenience of e-payment and other related services

-          Helping students to save money via discounts and privileges offered by participating merchants

-          Enable students to view payments online and keep track of their expenses efficiently

-          Encouraging light-weighted wallet utilising student card for small value transactions (micro-payment) at canteen, cafeteria, library, bus and other facilities within the campus

UTAR SilverCard is a good alternative for students looking for e-wallet solutions and cashless transactions with the convenience of not having to carry wads in their pockets. Among the benefits that students and staff can obtain from this multi-purpose card are as follows:

-          Facilitate offline transactions and micropayments within UTAR such as bus transportations, cafeteria purchases, bookstores, photocopy shop, library, finance department, etc.

-          2-in-1 card i.e. stored value card-cum-student or staff ID card

-          Accepted at SGP merchants within UTAR as well as participating merchants outside UTAR

-          Purse limit of RM200 per card

-          Contactless card with tap and go feature

-          Exclusive privileges from selected merchants

The UTAR SilverCard architecture is a major leap in SGP, bringing new ideas to the table that will enhance and improve experiences in meaningful, impactful ways. Every element of SilverCard has been fine-tuned to perfection and every decision has been carefully considered to give the maximum benefits.
