Signing Ceremony Between Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam And Silverlake Digital Economy

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and Silverlake Digital Economy Sdn Bhd today signed a Services Agreement to make banking available on everyone’s phone, literally bringing banking convenience to the palm of one’s hand.

In a simple signing ceremony held at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources in his capacity as the Chairman of BIBD signed on behalf of the Bank while Silverlake was represented by its Executive Chairman, Goh Peng Ooi. Witnessing the signing was Managing Director of BIBD, Javed Ahmad, and Group Managing Director of Silverlake, Choo Soo Ching.

BIBD in its ongoing endeavor to give the best banking experience to their customers has decided to take a leap into mobile technology, an excellent platform for banking and finance. This new simpler and more convenient way of banking will be rolled out soon enabling customers to do their banking wherever they are, whenever they want via their mobile phones.

Mobile banking will not only be attractive to the younger, technologically savvy generation but also to those who have become reliant on their smartphones for everyday conveniences.

This mobile banking technology, soon to be available to the general public, will be a significant milestone for BIBD, adding to its already expansive IT infrastructure.

In the previous months, BIBD has launched various enhancements and added security features to modernize and revolutionize the way Bruneians do their banking. Just last month BIBD concurrently launched several new features to their BIBD Online, namely the SMS Alert service and an Online Top-up service for prepaid electric meters. The SMS Alert service is a security feature that notifies customers of any transactions made on their Credit or Debit cards, when their salaries are credited into their bank account as well as notifying customers when their eStatements are ready for viewing on BIBD Online.

BIBD has also launched the self-service terminal or ‘online kiosk’ to better serve customers. These ‘online kiosks’ will be rolled out and installed in BIBD’s branches progressively.
