Hanoi, Vietnam May 11th 2016 — Hong Leong Bank (HLB) and its technology partner Silverlake received the award for Best ATM & Kiosk Technology Implementation for 2016 during the tenth Asian Banker Technology Innovation Awards Programme. The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the prestigious Asian Banker Summit 2016, the foremost annual meeting for decision makers in the financial services industry in the Asia Pacific region, held at the JW Marriott, Hanoi, Vietnam on May 11th 2016.

Hong Leong Bank implemented a new ATM switch and an ATM regional hub enabling cross-border transactions

The bank migrated from OCM24 ATM Switch to Silverlake’s Electronic Banking System with mandatory reports, interfaces, and minimum product enhancements. The new ATM switch eliminates downtime, improves issue resolution turnaround time, and is realigned to core banking customer information file. The implementation included 24x7 uptime capability at the core banking level, as well as regionalisation of HLB's switches, enabling cross-border ATM transactions via internal switching.

Support for multi-organisation setups with multi-capability functions

The project supports multi-organisation and multi-institution setups for different countries with different and separate databases and parameters, with multi-capability functions achieved via parameterisation and implementation.

New solution helped achieve 24x7 uptime and reduced operating costs by 80%

The project was completed within the stipulated period of 12 months, with all 1,098 ATMs and 296 branches of HLB successfully converted to the new system. Implementation has helped the bank eliminate ATM switch downtime (1.5 hours) and improve night mode downtime of 1–1.5 hours to less than 10 minutes. The time to roll out a new product has shortened from 6 months to 2 months, and operating costs have markedly fallen by 80%.
